Suero spent different parts of six seasons in the majors, totaling 193.1 innings, for which he recorded a 4.75 ERA. Most recently, he was with the Astros this year, but he only appeared in one game and didn’t record a single out.
However, Suero did put up some impressive numbers for Houston’s AAA affiliate, boasting a 2.66 ERA over 67.2 innings. He’s also currently pitching in the Dominican Winter League, where he owns a 1.83 ERA in 19.2 innings.
The Braves bullpen is set to lose a lot of faces. A.J. Minter remains a free agent. The Braves hope to bring him back, but that’s far from a sure thing. Luke Jackson and Jesse Chavez are also free agents, and Joe Jimenez will miss most of next season after undergoing knee surgery. That’s a lot of innings that need to be replaced, and while some of that will happen internally, adding depth like Suero is a necessity, even if it isn’t the exciting signing Braves fans are waiting for.
