Chef Jason Liang and John Chen, the duo behind Michelin-starred sushi restaurant Brush in Buckhead, will open Cuddlefish on March 1 at High Street in Dunwoody.
Liang and Chen, who also own Lucky Star at Star Metals and Momonoki and Momo Cafe in Midtown, will bring the Dunwoody development a sushi-style hand roll (temaki) restaurant merging Japanese and Taiwanese flavors. Cuddlefish will also include a temaki tasting menu at the chef’s counter.
In addition to dining, Cuddlefish will feature a takeout market selling sushi-grade seafood, coffee, tea, and other specialty ingredients. Look for baked goods from Pastry Chef ChingYao Wang, along with beer, wine, and sake and sake cocktails from the bar.

Liang and Chen closed Brush in Decatur three years ago, replacing it with Cuddlefish, a much more casual sushi restaurant focused on pared-down omakase experiences and hand rolls. They eventually closed Cuddlefish, announcing its relocation to Dunwoody’s High Street while preparing to reopen Brush at Buckhead Village in 2023. Last year, Michelin awarded Brush one star.
In December, Liang and Chen opened Taiwanese cafe and cocktail bar Lucky Star at Star Metals on Howell Mill Road. The two-in-one concept serves coffee, pastries, and Taiwanese dishes until 4 p.m., before transitioning to a cocktail bar serving Taiwanese food at 5 p.m.
