The Atlanta division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) assisted Sandy Springs Police in seizing approximately 53 pounds of fentanyl pills, 11 pounds of powdered fentanyl and substantial amounts of other drugs on March 21 at a Sandy Springs apartment complex.
One gram of fentanyl has the potential to kill 500 people, according to the DEA. A pound is more than 453 grams.
Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Leon Millholland told Rough Draft Atlanta that two suspects were arrested on drug-related federal charges, with more arrests possible. The suspects’ names were not released. Rough Draft Atlanta has asked the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia for details.
The police department’s spokesperson said that after weeks of investigation, the seizures and arrests were made at an apartment complex near GA 400 and Abernathy Road,
