1. Sandy Springs opening first Springway Trail section on May 2

???? Sandy Springs will celebrate the opening of the first section of the city’s Springway Trail Master Plan on May 2, a segment that connects Morgan Falls Overlook Park to Roswell Road at Cimarron Parkway.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Fri., May 2. 

 The 1.88-mile segment includes an eight-to-12-foot-wide, multi-use paved trail with retaining walls, a top-down boardwalk across Orkin Lake, drainage structures, pedestrian bridges, roadway realignments, landscaping, and trail signage.

2. Spruill deepens statewide connections through grant program

???? The Spruill Center for the Arts has a new grant program. The $50,000 Larch Creative Fund grant is open to creatives across the state. 

Spruill announced the grant during its 50th anniversary party and 39th Artistic Affair event on March 29.

This opportunity seeks to support artists, collaborations, and nonprofit organizations as they complete innovative projects in a variety of media and forms. The call seeks projects that inspire creativity and community connections through accessible engagement with the arts.

3. MARTA dining guide: Chamblee

???? One of ten cities in DeKalb County, Chamblee was incorporated into the state legislature in 1908. 

An outcropping of newer restaurants on Peachtree Boulevard and Peachtree and New Peachtree roads makes downtown Chamblee all the better these days.

This MARTA dining guide highlights eight restaurants easily accessible from the Chamblee MARTA station on the Gold Line, located on New Peachtree Road.
