1. New Orleans terror suspect has ties to Atlanta
???? The suspect in the New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans graduated from Georgia State University in 2017.
The suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, was born in Texas and graduated from GSU with a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems. He was also in the U.S. Army.
Fifteen people were killed and more than 35 injured after Jabbar allegedly drove a rented truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street.
One of those critically injured, Elle Eisele, is a 19-year-old University of Georgia student from Fort Myers, FL, who was in town to watch the Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl.

3. Sandy Springs ready to improve, expand recycling
♻️ Sandy Springs has partnered with Keep North Fulton Beautiful to seek a $1.2 million federal grant to make improvements and expand programs at the city’s recycling center on Morgan Falls Road.
The Sandy Springs City Council voted in December to approve the submission of an Environmental Protection Agency Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling Grant application.
Ryder Leary, Executive Director of Keep North Fulton Beautiful, said the center recycles plastics, cardboard, scrap metal, electronics, and glass. The grant would allow the center to increase its capacity.
